Anglican Communion Primate Visits the Iglesia Filipina Independiente

The Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of the Anglican Communion, will visit the Iglesia Filipina Independiente on Friday, 8th August 2014.

Welcoming the highest leader of the Anglican Communion and head of the Church of England are the Most Reverend Ephraim S. Fajutagana, Obispo Maximo of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente, and other dignitaries and officers of the Church.

Highlighting the visit is the re-affirmation and signing of the Concordat of Full Communion between the Church of England and the Iglesia Filipina Independiente.

The ceremonial signing will be made during a special Liturgical Service at the National Cathedral in Manila. The occasion also serves as part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the relations between the two Churches that formalized such concordat agreement in October 1963.

Archbishop Welby is the second Primate of the Anglican Communion to visit the Iglesia Filipina Independiente. In 1973, Archbishop Arthur Michael Ramsey, visited the Philippines and celebrated the Holy Eucharist at the National Cathedral.
