IFI Elects 12th Obispo Maximo
 
Delegates to the 12th Triennial General Assembly of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente voted unanimously into office as Obispo Maximo the former General Secretary, the Rt. Rev. Ephraim S. Fajutagana, on 10th May 2011.

 

The Obispo Maximo-elect has been in ministry since 1977, having served the Iglesia Filipina Independiente for a total of some thirty four (34) years before his election to the highest office of the Church. He was ordained to the priesthood the same year after graduating from Saint Andrew’s Theological Seminary where he obtained his Bachelor of Theology degree. Bishop Fajutagana was consecrated to the episcopate in July 2002 and served the Diocese of Cavite as Diocesan Bishop until his election as General Secretary in May 2005.

 

The Rt. Rev. Joselito P. Cruz, Bishop of the Diocese of Rizal-Pampanga, will fill in the shoes of the General Secretary by June 2011 when Bishop Fajutagana ends his six-year term as Chief Operating Officer, and assumes his new position as the IFI’s 12th Obispo Maximo.

 

The General Assembly has also re-elected Mr. Saturnino Garvida and Mr. Reynaldo Evangelista as General Treasurer and Auditor General, respectively.

 

The 12th Triennial General Assembly confirmed the election of the members of the 11th Executive Commission. The Supreme Council of Bishops is represented to the Executive Commission by Bishop Vic Esclamado, its elected Chairperson, Bishop Vermilion Tagalog, Bishop Felomino Ang, Bishop Ronel Fabriquer, and Bishop Delfin Callao.

 

The representatives from the Council of Priests are the Reverend Virgilio Amihan, its elected Chairperson, the Rev. Allan Caparro, Rev. Gilbert Garcia, Rev. Emma Catubig and Rev. Larry Anievas. The National Lay Council is represented by its Chairperson, Mr. Pepito Pico, WOPIC President Attorney Tita Agbayani, LIFI President Mr. Danny Megia, and YIFI President Mr. Ronald Jacalan.
