12th Obispo Maximo Installed into Office
Amidst jubilant joy and singing of about two thousand clergy and faithful, His Eminence, The Most Reverend Ephraim S. Fajutagana, was formally installed and invested as the 12th Obispo Maximo of the Iglesia Filipina
The outgoing Obispo Maximo, The Most Reverend Godofredo J. David, installed the new Obispo Maximo into office. Also joining the investiture service were The Most Reverend Tomas A. Millamena, ninth Obispo Maximo, and the Right Rev. Dr. Vic Esclamado, President of the Supreme Council of Bishops, and The Most Reverend Edward Malecdan, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the Philippines.
Friends from different churches, ecumenical partners, people’s organizations and government officials also graced and witnessed the solemn service. Among those present were Bishop Deogracias Yniguez of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Caloocan; Justice Raul Victorino of the Iglesia UNIDA Ekyumenikal, the Rev. Rex Reyes, NCCP General Secretary; Rev. William Taylor of the Vicarage of Notting Hill, Diocese of London, Rev. John Dean of the Australian Board of Mission, and several others.
The members of the 12th Executive Commission, and the newly-elected officers and members of the Commission on Business and Finance, chaired by Mr. Jerry Navarette, and the Commission on Programs and Programs, chaired by The Reverend Tomas A. Millamena, were also inducted into their respective offices towards the end of the investiture service. Officers and members of the Board of Directors of the IFI Support Foundation, Incorporated, led by former Prime Minister Cesar EA. Virata, have also taken their oath of office.
In his message to the clergy and faithful, the Obispo Maximo solicited their prayers for his ministry to make him worthy of God’s calling to lead the Iglesia Filipina Independiente. After the ceremony, the faithful lined-up to receive blessings from the 12th Obispo Maximo. A fellowship lunch a short program followed the service at the National Cathedral grounds.
